Dr. Sara Stewart is an ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery. With subspecialty training in pediatric and adult eye movement disorders and diseases, Dr. Stewart treats children age one and older. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Soon after, she completed an internship at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center, a preliminary medicine year at The Ohio State University’s Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio and an ophthalmology residency at Michigan State University with Beaumont Oakwood Hospital, where she was appointed Chief Resident. Finally, she completed a subspeciality fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Akron Children’s Hospital before beginning her professional career as a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Hospital where she trained students, interns, and residents.
Prior to starting her own practice, Dr. Stewart worked as an ophthalmologist at a multi-location private practice with offices throughout Western Pennsylvania. She has lectured at many national and international ophthalmology conferences and is a fellow of the American Osteopathic Boards of Ophthalmology& Otolaryngology. She is also professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
